“Yesterday, I witnessed something that took my breath away.

I heard a soft thud at the window of the cottage, and when I looked outside, a cedar waxwing had struck the glass and fallen onto the deck. Its mate stood close by, watching. It was clear the fallen bird was gone.

I turned away for just a moment, and when I looked again, the surviving bird had hopped over. It lay down beside its partner, their heads touching. Then, with a quiet stillness, it closed its eyes… and passed on too.

To witness such sadness and beauty all at once was an incredible privilege.

If anyone has ever doubted that animals feel love and emotion, this moment was undeniable proof.

Nature truly has so much to teach us. 🌿💛
