While checking out at a local grocery store this afternoon, I noticed my boys playing with “The Claw” (toy/stuffed animal game machine). I was surprised to see Zander actually win a toy, but what really baffled me was where he got the money to play the game. They didn’t ask me for money to play (that’s a shock) and I didn’t notice them ask anyone around them (I would have been mortified). Zander quickly and excitedly ran up to show me the stuffed animal he had so proudly won and exclaimed that this “nice teenager” put money in the machine so he could play.

The young man, Lamont, is a cashier who was on his break. No one asked him to put money in the machine so my boys could play, this humble, young man did it out of the goodness/kindness in his heart. The boys and I thanked him numerous times. Yes, I even called his manager to “share a good story” for once.

There are still really good people in the world and as a mom, I’m glad to see that young people, like Lamont, are role models who are trying to make the world a better place for children.
