Three Men Survive 11 Days Clinging to Oil Tanker Rudder from Nigeria to Canary Islands
In a harrowing tale of survival, three Nigerian men endured an 11-day journey clinging to the rudder of the Malta-flagged oil tanker Alithini II, which traveled approximately 2,500 miles (4,000 km) from Lagos, Nigeria to Las Palmas, Gran Canaria. Fully exposed to the scorching sun, freezing nights, and without access to food or water, they survived in a narrow space just above the waterline.
