This version tells your story as a continuous journey, with each challenge building on the last to emphasize your deep commitment.
I got my dog when I was just 19, a young single mother of one. From the start, she was family, and I held onto her no matter what.
I kept my dog when I moved into an apartment, paying a huge $500 pet fee. I kept her when my boyfriend and I broke up, even though my new place didn’t allow dogs. I kept her when I had to move back in with my parents, where she also wasn’t allowed. I kept her when my second child was born and when his father put us through hell, leaving us with nowhere to go. I kept her even when I had barely any money and we all ate nothing but buttered noodles for dinner.
Ten years later, I still have my dog, because she was the very start of the big family we have today. Even though she’s now getting slow, eating less, and turning gray, I still have my dog.
I’m tired of seeing posts where people get rid of their dogs because they want a new puppy or a different dog. Commitment is commitment.
