“This morning at the park, I saw a mama playing catch with her toddler while gently swaying back and forth, patting the tiny newborn strapped snugly against her chest.
Later, she came over and softly said, almost apologetically:
“I’m embarrassed to even ask, but do you happen to have sunscreen we can use?”
As if forgetting sunscreen was something to be ashamed of.
Dear fellow mamas,
Please ask me.
Ask if I have sunscreen.
Ask if I have baby wipes, diapers, or an extra snack tucked away.
Ask if your toddler can plop down beside us and play while you find a shady bench to nurse your newborn.
Hand me your phone and let me snap a photo of you with your babies—because we all know there are never enough pictures of mama in the frame.
Ask for help.
Ask for love.
Ask for anything.
Even if we’ve never met, please ask me.
Because being responsible for little humans isn’t easy—
but it’s a whole lot easier when we look out for each other.
