This is Wesley, a cashier at Walmart in Sydney River—and he absolutely made my day!

When I came into the store, I asked a clerk if someone could help me pick out a few items. Before she could even answer, Wesley, who was busy checking out a family, looked over and said, “I’ll help her!”

As we shopped, I got to know him a little. Wesley has been with Walmart for 10 months. He’s from Glace Bay but struggled to find work there because of his disability—he has a mild form of cerebral palsy and a slight limp.

Wesley told me how grateful he is to Walmart for giving him a chance to prove that beyond his disability is so much ability. His kindness, enthusiasm, and positive spirit completely lifted me up.

With his permission, I snapped this picture and am sharing his story in the hope that it inspires more businesses to give opportunities to people with disabilities—because the world needs more Wesleys.

Kudos to Walmart for believing in him, and kudos to Wesley for shining so bright. 🌟
