Shep suffers from chronic arthritis. His joints ache so badly that he can barely move his back legs, and sleep doesn’t come easy anymore.
The veterinarians suggested putting him to sleep to end his pain — but his owner, John Unger, couldn’t do that. Years ago, Shep had saved his life, pulling him out of deep depression and stopping him from ending his own.
So now, every day, John carries Shep into the cool water, holding him gently in his arms for hours so the pain fades and his best friend can drift off to sleep.
Words can hardly describe a love like this. When you give love freely, it finds its way back to you — tenfold. 💕
