They tell you not to cry. They say, “he was just a dog, not a person.” They say …

They tell you not to cry.
They say, “he was just a dog, not a person.”
They say the pain will pass.
They say animals don’t even know they’re going to die.
They say what matters is that he didn’t suffer.
They say you can always get another one.
They say worse things can happen.
But they don’t know…
How many times you looked into your dog’s eyes.
How many nights it was just you and him, facing the darkness together.
How many times he was the only one by your side.
That he was the only soul who never judged you.
How your heart sank the night his cries woke you up.
How often he slept beside you, keeping you safe.
How much your life changed once he became part of it.
How many times you held him when he was sick.
How you pretended not to notice his fur turning whiter every year.
How many words you whispered to him, knowing he truly listened.
How gentle and loving you were to him.
They don’t know…
That only your dog could sense your pain without words.
What it felt like to see your old dog struggling just to greet you.
That when everything else went wrong, he was the one who stayed.
That he trusted you completely, even in his final breath.
That his love was simple, pure, and endless—because you were enough.
They don’t understand…
That crying for a dog is one of the most noble, honest, and pure things a person can do.
That when you held him one last time, you were careful not to hurt him.
That when you stroked his face in his final moments… your heart broke in silence.
