The Yankees got a much-needed win, but the Mets won something more from this Subway Series duel

On Sunday afternoon, the Yankees won. The Mets lost.

The result, however, didn’t do much to change the tenor of the weekend for either team.

It was a positive three days for the Mets and a concerning trip to Queens for the skidding Yankees.

The Mets have begun to distance themselves from the disastrous stretch of 14 losses in 17 games, taking a series at home this week from both the Brewers and Yankees. They did so with a patchwork pitching staff that is now down to three traditional starting pitchers: Frankie Montas, David Peterson and Clay Holmes.
