After multiple seasons of civilian contestants, The Traitors UK finally cast a season full of celebrities, including an actor from the hugely popular TV show Ted Lasso. The Traitors UK has been on the air for three seasons, with Claudia Winkleman as the host. The Faithfuls won seasons 1 and 3, while Traitor Harry Clark won The Traitors season 2. The Traitors U.S. started off with half of the players being civilians and half being celebrities. Since then, they’ve gone all in on casting celebrities. However, the UK version has yet to film with a celebrity cast.
The celebrity Traitors UK cast has been announced, and the group includes several actors and comedians.
The celebrity-fueled Traitors UK cast was announced, and there’s a Ted Lasso star in the mix. According to Parade, the cast includes comedian Alan Carr, singer/songwriter Cat Burns, actor Celia Imrie, singer Charlotte Church, broadcaster/author Clare Balding, historian/filmmaker David Olusoga, rugby player Joe Marler, comedian Joe Wilkinson, presenter Jonathan Ross, broadcaster Kate Garraway, comedian Lucy Beaumont, actor Mark Bonnar, actor/comedian Nick Mohammed, content creator Niko Omilana, singer/actor Paloma Faith, actor Ruth Codd, actor/presenter Stephen Fry, actor/comedian Tameka Empson, and Olympian Tom Daley.
The celebrity season is expected to be a separate series from the non-celebrity version and will air in fall 2025. In a statement, Claudia said, “We’re incredibly lucky these brilliant people have said yes. I’d love to say we’ll take it easy on them and they’ll just wander ’round the castle and eat toast for a couple of weeks, but that would be a lie.” The celebrities will have to earn their way through the competition if they want to win the grand prize for charity.
What Celebrity Edition Means For The Traitors UK
The Traitors UK Isn’t Casting Reality Stars
The Traitors UK is finally casting celebrities, which will make the reality show even more entertaining. Several of the cast members are famous even outside the UK, like Charlotte Church (best known as a classical singer), Stephen Fry (who starred in such films as Gosford Park and The Hobbit, and narrated the Harry Potter audiobooks) and Tom Daley (who became well known from competing as a diver at the Olympics in 2020 and 2024). Nick Mohammed is also a huge name on the cast list because he played Nate Shelley on Ted Lasso.
While The Traitors U.S. typically casts reality stars from such shows as Real Housewives, Survivor, Below Deck and Big Brother as its celebrities, the UK edition has clearly decided to take a different approach by casting actors, comedians and singers, among other professions. It’ll be fascinating to see how they maneuver their way through the game and attempt to banish or “murder” each other. For those who aren’t fans of celebrity casts, the good news about this is that the non-celebrity version will continue.
Our Take On The Traitors UK’s Celebrity Cast
The Celebrities Will Be Out Of Their Comfort Zone
I’m looking forward to The Traitors UK‘s celebrity edition. Casting reality TV stars ensures there will always be drama, so what makes the UK’s strategy fascinating is that we’ll be able to see how actors and comedians approach the competition as Traitors and Faithfuls. Since the celebrities don’t have backgrounds in reality TV, they’ll be taken out of their element when they compete on The Traitors. If this season is successful, it’ll be interesting to see if The Traitors U.S. season 4 decides to broaden its search and cast actors and comedians instead of relying heavily on reality stars.
