The pre-thumb injury Francisco Alvarez is starting to return.
It’s a small sample size, a handful of impactful hits, but the young catcher is beginning to find his stroke again.
Alvarez drove in two key runs with a double in Friday night’s win over the Nationals. On Wednesday, he homered. He has hit safely in four of his previous six games.
“I’m feeling good,” Alvarez told The Post before going 2-for-5 in the Mets’ 5-3, 11-inning loss to the Nationals on Saturday at Citi Field. “I’m just looking to compete, try to do my best for the team.”
