So, this guy’s name is Tay, and he goes to Greenwood High School.
Yesterday, I walked into the gym to get ready for lunch, and Tay came up to me and asked,
“What size shoe do you wear?”
I told him, “9… why?”
He just smiled and said,
“Alright, tomorrow I want you to show up at this exact spot, okay?”
I said, “Alright, man.”
Today, I walked into the gym and saw a small crowd of students gathered around Tay.
He had a Foot Locker bag in his hand.
When he saw me, he pulled out a Jordan shoe box.
Inside were a pair of Retro 1 Jordans.
He handed them to me and said,
“Here you go, man. These are yours.”
At first, I was confused. I didn’t understand why.
Then he told his friends to grab my backpack while he laced the shoes up for me.
And when I asked him, “Why are you giving me these?”
He looked at me and said:
“I heard people have been bullying you. So I wanted to get you these… to make you feel better.”
I hugged him right there. I nearly cried.
I still don’t even know how to thank him enough.
Then he added,
“And if anybody keeps bullying you… you let me know, alright?”
I said, “Thank you so much.”
And I meant it with all my heart.
Tay—you didn’t just give me shoes.
You gave me kindness, protection, and confidence.
You reminded me that even when it feels like the world’s against you…
There are still good people who’ve got your back.
