My mother, who passed away in August, had a collection of crazy old hats. She kept them in a shopping bag in her closet and would pull them out to show friends or bring to costume events at her women’s club, etc. I took the bag when we were cleaning out her house, but really wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them because I was in the middle of moving to a new house. I reached out to a local community playhouse to see if they wanted them, and no one responded. Then I thought about donating them, and thought Goodwill would probably throw them in the garbage, so they came with me on the move. I had a brilliant idea one day while decorating my guest room…I’ll display them. So I thrifted an antique accordion gate from Finder’s Keepers in New Oxford, PA and voila! The display is a combination of some of my hats and my mother’s. I LOVE it! And it came out perfect!
