Lynn Murphy, a mother of four, was begging for money in Massachusetts when a state trooper approached her. Initially, he drove past, but then returned with food he’d bought. She expected a ticket, but he offered her the meal. Instead of just handing it over, he invited her to eat with him, sharing a picnic on the cruiser’s bumper.

The officer, Luke Bonin, was photographed, and the image went viral.

Lynn said she was deeply moved when he suggested a picnic.

The state police shared the photo, explaining that Bonin had seen the woman, who seemed to be struggling, asking for help. He bought two meals and offered her one.

They ate together, chatting.

The department acknowledged Bonin’s reluctance for recognition, praising his selfless act and “doing the right thing.” They highlighted the honorable and generous actions of their troopers, often unseen, but not on this occasion.
