In Rhode Island, 80-year-old Carl Keitner turned his garage into a workshop of kindness. He began carving wooden canes, shaping them carefully, one by one.
Instead of selling them, Carl delivered 25 canes to a senior center, encouraging older residents to take one for free. Staff say the canes brought more than support—they carried smiles, stories, and conversations on the porch.
For Carl, it wasn’t about the wood, but about giving others strength. Each cane is a reminder that even the simplest acts of generosity can steady someone else’s steps.
