In July 2022, Corion Evans, a high school senior from Moss Point, Mississippi, heroically saved four people from drowning after a car drove off a boat launch and sank into the Pascagoula River. Upon witnessing the incident, Evans immediately removed his shoes, shirt, and phone, and jumped into the water to assist the three teenage girls trapped in the sinking vehicle. During the rescue, a police officer who responded to the scene also began to struggle in the water. Evans managed to help all four individuals reach safety, demonstrating remarkable bravery and selflessness. His actions were widely praised, and he received commendations from local authorities for his courage.
