On September 11, 2001, 38-year-old Lauren Grandcolas—three months pregnant—was aboard United Flight 93 after switching to an earlier flight home.
When hijackers took control, she left one final voicemail for her husband:
“We’re having a little problem on the plane. I’m totally fine. I love you more than anything—just know that.”
