“Earlier this week, Sgt. Totel and Officer Ring, while working the night shift, were called into action to assist a local resident, after her mother was transported from the home to the hospital. Soon after they arrived, they discovered the adult resident had developmental disabilities and would soon awake and likely be startled by their presence and the absence of her mother.
The officers spent the next two hours attempting to locate assistance from both the county Board of Developmental Disabilities Services and the resident’s home health aides. Shortly thereafter, the resident was awake, out of bed & ready to start her day!
Both Sgt. Totel and Officer Ring were able to maintain a sense of calm and normalcy for this resident, and assisted her with sticking to her morning routine. Officer Ring impressed everyone with his “world-famous” scrabbled eggs (pictured) and dish-washing skills; while Sgt. Totel assisted with the resident’s shoes, jacket and packing her a lunch.
And the best part of this story…they managed to get her on the bus and off to her day program, right on time.
Thank you, Sgt. Totel and Officer Ring, for going the extra mile for this resident!”
