Both Men Walked Away Feeling Grateful

“I just wanted to share a special moment with our friends…
Today, Kevin and I were out shopping for something he could wear to his dad’s funeral. That’s when we both realized—neither of us knew how to tie a tie. Kevin saw an older gentleman nearby and decided to ask if he could help. We weren’t sure how he would react. Maybe he’d think we were strange. But we were completely wrong.
This kind man didn’t hesitate for a second. When Kevin explained why he needed help, the man gently took the tie, put it around his own neck, and started tying it. He made a little joke, saying it might take all day to get it just right, but he kept at it.
After a few tries to get the length just right, he carefully took the tie off his neck and gave it back to Kevin. Then, he thanked Kevin for letting him help. He reached out to shake Kevin’s hand, pulled him in for a hug, and said how sorry he was to hear about Kevin’s dad.
Then he looked at me and said, “Take good care of him,” and quietly walked away.
Kevin and I walked away in silence, both trying not to cry.
I don’t know that man’s name, but I’ll never forget his kind smile—and the way he thanked us for giving him the chance to help.
God bless you, sir.”
