After a 15-hour shift, I was sore, sweaty, and just grabbing groceries when a little boy made a goofy face at me. I played along — we laughed. Minutes later, I overheard his mom warning him not to “end up working in clothes like that.”

At checkout, I saw the kids eyeing candy they couldn’t afford. I bought it for them.

I left still smelling like work, but carrying something better — proof that kindness speaks louder than appearances.
