Today, as I was heading home after a long day, I saw something that made me stop in my tracks. There he was, standing on the corner, drenched by the rain, a tiny puppy looking out at the world with eyes full of fear and sadness. His small body trembled on the cold sidewalk, as if he didn’t know where to go or who to turn to. He glanced around, maybe searching for something, someone, some comfort.
I couldn’t walk past him. There was something in his gaze that broke my heart. I thought about how he must feel, how lonely he must have been, and how much he deserved to be loved. I knew I couldn’t leave him there. Without thinking twice, I slowly approached, trying not to scare him any further. He looked up at me with those vulnerable eyes, and I immediately knew he needed me. I gently picked him up, and it felt like time stood still for a moment. In that instant, I knew I had done the right thing.
I brought him home, gave him some food, and although he was initially scared of everything, little by little, he started to relax. Now, every time I look at him, I’m grateful that I gave him a chance. This little one, who was once alone and afraid, now has a home full of love. I can’t help but smile as I watch him wake up happy in the mornings. I’m so glad that, even though it wasn’t planned, he found me along the way, and together, we can now write our story.
