Week 2 Double Elimination Results

This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.

This article contains spoilers for Dancing With The Stars season 34’s first elimination.

Dancing With The Stars season 34’s second week of competition saw incredible performances as a double elimination loomed, but two eliminations proved to be too many for the ABC series. While Dancing With The Stars season 34 has an all-star cast, the show’s first weeks can sometimes be uncertain when it comes to who’s leaving. After an unexpected first week, DWTS stayed surprising.

Throughout One Hit Wonders night, viewers got the chance to watch as each of the Dancing With The Stars season 34 couples showing improvement as they got to dance for a second week. While some struggled in their first night of dances, the second week of competition proved that their hard work and determination was paying off in spades for most.

Although there were some sour notes for the Dancing With The Stars season 34 cast, most of the performances showed strides ahead in the learning process. Even so, watching as some dancers struggled with their partner work, it was clear that the elimination would be close. Knowing two couples would be leaving DWTS, however, changed the way some viewers chose to vote.

Corey Feldman & Baron Davis Were Eliminated From Dancing With The Stars

Their Scores Were Some Of The Lowest Of The Week

While it was clear that there were going to be some performances that scored higher from others based on skill alone, the double elimination looming at the end of the episode made it less-than-clear who would be packing their bags. After the first and second week’s combined scores, however, Corey Feldman & Jenna Johnson and Baron Davis & Britt Stewart were eliminated.

While Corey and Baron were two of the lowest scored performers, both showed promise during the second week of competition. Unfortunately for their partners, it was clear that they would be early boots from the series, though many thought that comedian Andy Richter & Emma Slater would find themselves as a part of the double elimination, instead of Corey or Baron.

DWTS Shouldn’t Feature Early Double Eliminations

It Has Its Purpose, But Usually Fails Performers

Although Dancing With The Stars season 34 isn’t the first to start off with a double elimination to get things going, the competition typically suffers when two competitors leave so early in the game. While it makes sense to eliminate two people after two weeks of dances, it can be tough on the performers to know that their best may just lose them more time.

Double eliminations often make sense later in the competition on Dancing With The Stars, as the contestants have had more time to learn how to dance and how to roll with the changes from the week-to-week style of the show. With time to adjust, DWTS performers often get better and find themselves genuinely competing for their spot. Early double eliminations can be jarring on Dancing With The Stars.

Dancing With The Stars airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
