Meet Mr. Timmy—the angel who walked into my office.
A week ago, he stopped by asking if I could help him with severe low back pain shooting down his leg. He asked about prices, then scheduled an appointment so he could gather the money.
On Wednesday, he showed up 30 minutes early. Polite, kind, and respectful—every answer was “yes, ma’am” or “no, ma’am.” Just being around him filled my heart with joy.
As we talked, he shared that he had been living with this pain for three years. He’d been turned away time and again because he had no insurance or money, but finally he decided he had to try. I could see he was hurting, but I didn’t realize how badly until I asked him to lay on the table. Tears streamed down his face, and he apologized for crying. I handed him a tissue and told him not to be sorry.
I silently prayed, asking God to use my hands to help heal him. As I adjusted him, each movement brought painful moans and sobs, but he kept saying, “Keep going if it will help.” Slowly, his pain began to ease.
I hooked him up to the electrical stimulation machine and gave him time to rest. When I returned, his face lit up. “Oh my goodness…this is the best I’ve felt in three years. Thank you, thank you, thank you.” He stood and realized—for the first time in three years—he could stand up straight. Tears of pain turned into tears of relief. I couldn’t hold back my own tears any longer. We hugged, and I felt the Holy Spirit in the room.
As we walked up front, he asked when I wanted to see him again. I said the next day. He nodded, then asked how much it would cost—he’d try to find the money. Instead, I handed him his payment back. He looked confused. I told him, “God is speaking to me. I want to bless you. You need this money for food. Just pay me in hugs.”
He broke down sobbing. We hugged and cried together. He said I couldn’t know what this meant to him.
The next day, he returned with a smile and a bounce in his step. He was already healing. We surprised him with a box of snacks, a Subway gift card, and a card. Again, the tears flowed as he hugged me and thanked us over and over.
I’ve been praying for him since. And I keep thinking—sometimes angels show up in unexpected forms. Mr. Timmy may have walked in asking for help, but he blessed me more than I could ever bless him.
In a world full of darkness, there is still so much good. You just have to open your heart and share the love. ❤️
