Lately, my 13-year-old son has been acting a little… entitled. Making comments about being “too good” to shop at Walmart or teasing kids at school who get their clothes from Goodwill. That doesn’t fly in my house.
So today, I gave him a challenge: with his own $20, he had to shop at Goodwill and find enough clothes for the entire school week. Whatever he picked out would be his wardrobe.
He wasn’t thrilled—there were a few tears—but I know one day, maybe 15 years from now, he’ll look back and laugh about the day Mom made him shop at Goodwill. More importantly, he’ll remember the lesson: money isn’t everything, and you should never look down on someone for where they shop.
(For the record—I love Goodwill! ❤️)
