I was simply doing my job when I met a customer who would change my life forever. His name is Bishop Eusebio Phelps. He came in for breakfast and we started talking. I had no idea that conversation would be the start of something so special.
As we talked, I shared that I was pregnant with my second child, a baby boy I planned to name Samuel. The moment I said his name, Eusebio’s face lit up. He told me that his own son, also named Samuel, had passed away seven years ago. That connection touched both of our hearts.
Eusebio wanted to do something for me. He first left a $40 tip, but he felt that wasn’t enough. He and his wife decided to raise $1,000 for me and my family. He posted our story on Facebook, and by the next morning, the goal was met. Excited by the outpouring of love, he raised the goal to $3,000, which was also reached in no time.
What I didn’t know was that Eusebio had another surprise waiting. He planned a baby shower for me at Waffle House. While I was on my way, they raised the goal again, this time to $10,000. When I arrived, they greeted me with open arms and blessed me with $12,000. To make it even more incredible, his church offered to pay for baby Samuel’s childcare for an entire year.
I cannot describe how grateful I am. I had been so stressed and worried about the baby coming. In that moment, all I could say was thank you and that God is good all the time.
The most beautiful part is that I never even told Eusebio about my struggles. Our bond happened simply through kindness and the connection to the name Samuel. Eusebio later said this was not just chance, but an appointed and predestined moment. ❤️
