It was late when flashing blue lights filled my rearview mirror. My stomach dropped I was sure I was about to get a ticket.

But Officer Adrian McKinney didn’t show up with a citation. Instead, he listened as I explained that I had already bought a replacement bulb for my broken headlight but had no clue how to install it.

Without hesitation, he smiled and said, “Pop the hood.”

For the next 20 minutes, in the sticky night air, he crouched over my car. At one point he even burned his fingers, but he kept going, determined to get that light working. Finally, with a small spark and a flicker, the headlight came to life.

He could have written me a ticket and been on his way. But instead, he chose kindness. He reminded me that real service isn’t always about emergencies or flashing sirens it’s about the everyday moments where a little help makes a big difference.

That night, I drove away not just with a working headlight, but with a brighter reminder of the humanity that still exists in this world. 💙
