On Friday, July 22, at the Kentucky Kingdom baby water park, I saw something that gave me hope. I wanted to thank the mom who raised two of the kindest kids I have ever met. I’m a mom to a 5-year-old named Baylee, who has autism and is mostly non-verbal. We were at the park practicing a new skill: waiting in line.

Baylee was doing great, following our routine perfectly. But as any parent knows, kids will be kids, and soon, a few cut in line. For Baylee, this small disruption felt like the end of the world. Coping with unexpected change is a daily struggle for us, and I braced myself for a meltdown.

That’s when your daughter looked at me and said, “She can go ahead of me.” Baylee hadn’t even had a chance to get upset yet. Your daughter’s kindness took my breath away. Soon after, her brother did the same thing. They both instinctively knew that Baylee was different and that a simple act of kindness could make a huge difference.

Your children didn’t just prevent a meltdown; they gave me something much more important: hope. As a parent of a child with autism, I often worry about the world’s unkindness. But seeing your kids filled with pride as I praised them for their compassion reminded me that there are many good people out there.

You are raising two wonderful children, and you are doing a really good job. Thank you for giving me and my daughter a beautiful moment we will never forget.
