I pray each time he leaves, begging God to bring him back home. That 4 a.m. Velcro sound that once startled me is now my favorite reminder of his courage. I’ve confessed to him how hard it is watching him walk into danger for people who don’t always value his sacrifice. Yet this life is more than adrenaline for him—it’s purpose. He is my strength, my partner, and together we’re not just aging, we’re learning and growing every day.
