Davonte, a 12-year-old, had no way to get to school one Wednesday. His mother was sick, and he was stuck.
That’s when Deputy Muntean, the School Resource Officer, stepped in. He offered Davonte a ride, not as an officer of the law, but as a caring individual. They ended up getting breakfast, chatting, and enjoying each other’s company.
The following day, they rode to school together again, this time willingly. A simple act of compassion had blossomed into a relationship founded on trust.
The most impactful thing you can say to a child is: “I see you. I’m here for you.”
