While waiting to board our plane, my daughter was her usual curious self—eager to meet and greet everyone in sight. Then she spotted this man.

He smiled, reached out, and asked if she’d like to sit with him. Soon, his tablet was out—teaching her how to draw, watching cartoons together, and sharing snacks.

This wasn’t just a passing moment. For 45 minutes, they laughed, learned, and enjoyed each other’s company. Different genders. Different races. Different generations. Yet in that moment, they were simply the best of friends.

As I watched, I thought—this is the world I want for her. One where kindness bridges every gap, and compassion speaks louder than division.

Joseph, thank you for showing my daughter what true kindness looks like. Keep shining your light.
