“Today the lady I take care of had a doctor’s appointment. She had to go get a blood transfusion, we were sent to the Alice Gustafson at st. Joes. The area we were in was the cancer treatment center. As we were sitting in the waiting room, an older gentleman came in with 16 different Starbucks drinks. He started handing them out asking everyone that was sitting there if they wanted one, even the nurses and the doctors. So he gave me a drink of my choice, and one to the lady sitting next to me. When he walked out of the room the lady next to me started talking to me. This man had been coming to the same building for a couple years. Both of his parents had cancer and were therefore there for treatments. Every time they had a treatment either a patient or nurse would bring both of them in something to drink from Starbucks. He said that always made them smile because for somebody going through chemo, a simple coffee would make their day. Well, both of his parents passed away a few months ago and every day since then he brings all these drinks in. Everyday without fail he’s there handing out coffee just to see someone smile.”
