LA Mayor Karen Bass (D) will provide cash payments to migrants affected by ICE raids.
Bass said a plan is being worked out to provide cash assistance using cash cards with a “couple hundred” dollars pre-loaded onto them.
They will be distributed by immigrants’ rights groups and then passed on to migrants.
The Mayor said the cash will not come from public money, and will instead come from philanthropic partners.
It comes amid weeks of ICE raids to detain illegal migrants living and working in Los Angeles.
